I wonder what kind of lives the people that wrote those stories led.
How do they come up with such drastic things that happen to the ladies in the stories, poison apples, pricked on the finger, etc.
And then it was always a man that came to the rescue.
I would like to see a modern day, realistic "Once Upon A Time" story, where the wife or girlfriend comes to save the day...like we often in real life do !

How often have you wanted to phone someone and forgot their number?
Then you have to go on a mad hunt for your address book or phone directory ?
Oh, wait a sec, your local phone book won't do you any good as this person lives in another state.
Now what are you going to do ?

Starting New Year Off Right
OK, I am a procrastinator. I always am putting off things.
Well this morning I actually went to the Y and worked out with my hubby.
Now you have to remember, I am not a spring chicken, I have had a previous back injury and I usually do not have the time to go play.
So this morning I made the time for ME !
We started out with some hand weights, did some sit ups, did a few laps, worked on a couple of machines and lo and behold...I am not dead yet !
Me going this morning made hubby very happy because he worries about my health all the time and it made him feel good.
So I did something good for me and for him.
Maybe I will go again on the next work out day with him...oh, I did beat him at basketball..that was fun..lol.

Who ever made the statement that beauty is only skin deep apparently never had constipation problems !
Beauty truly comes from within.
Your skin, your hair, your bones, your whole being is dependant on your inside health.

Christmas Has Come And Gone
Christmas has come and gone and I am ever so ready for spring time and fresh breezes and sunshine.
BRING IT ON !
I want to get up in the early morning, get a fresh cup of coffee, the paper and sit out on the patio and listen to the birds singing and watch for the nice lady down the street walks past my house with her dog so I can wave and say good morning to her.
I want to feel the spring breeze blow around me and listen to the rustle of the leaves.
I want SPRING TIME !

I Just Recently Found Out That My Son's...
I just recently found out that my son's father-in-law has a new side line job. He has invested in a few vending machines with foods and snacks.
He said he did his homework and decided which machines and product was best suited for his needs and which ones would be best sellers.
He did not realize how many different machines were available in this market area, nor did he imagine there were so many Vending Companies to investigate their product offering, etc.
You not only have to pick products that will sell quickly, you also have to choose machines that will take various products and not like just one brand of soda pop products.
The Vending Machines Business is more complicated than one might think. You not only have to be selective in the product you are Vending, but the machines that you will select as the eye catching promotional display are of major importance.
They should be able to hold various companies goods, be placed strategically for the customers and make sure the have good warranties on the machines themselves.
If you get a machine that has to be serviced all the time for coin malfunctions or products getting hung up and not dropping to the customers, it could put you out of business real quick.
You do not want to be going out to the placement site to refill stock only to find out that the machine had broken down and no product was sold.
Then you end up with expired goods that are of no use to you or the consumers.
You need also to be aware of the seasons, because you would want to put different foods in for summer maybe than you would in winter.
Or if it is on a work site, you might have to put in more water or power drinks.
You need to know what the area of consumers would want in that particular machine.
So far Al has been fairly successful in his new business venture.
We wish him luck.

Christmas is Past, New Year Is Coming
Whew ! Made it thru another Christmas . Santa has come and gone, all are happy...I think.

A Whole New Image In Photography
I have got to tell you about Frank Panaro, who is a New York City wedding photographer .
This guy did the wedding photo album for one of my cousins, who very recently got married in the Caribbean.
You would not believe the drop dead gorgeous, elegant photos he created for them.
I, of course could not go, but while viewing these photos, it is like I was there.
The photographer creates a whole new image in photography. When you look at the pictures you could almost swear they are talking to you, you can very nearly feel what the people in the photos are saying or thinking.
My cousin said he was so professional, he did not disrupt the ceremonies at all, nor did he get in any ones way. You could hardly tell he was there.
He took some of the most elegant, the most you know what, I can't even put words to how breath taking the photos are.
If you ever get a chance to see Frank's photography, you will see what I mean.
Frank started out in 1982 as a fashion photographer and traveled all over the Caribbean while developing his skills.
You can find him in Florida, New York, Connecticut, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Europe, South America. Arizona, just about anywhere shooting weddings, Engagements, Family Portraits, Events and even Corporate events.
He offers many options for you to choose from, choice of albums, you can get a video shot also and a DVD.
Sensational ! That's all I can say.
Talk about creating and saving a cherished moment. He does that like no other photographer I have seen for many years. The guy is excellent.

Way Too Much $$$ On Toys
This is only my opinion so PLEASE do not send any yucky comments to me for this.
When I was child, hmmm....kinda sounds like Once Upon A Time doesn't it ?...anyhow...
We too were poor, really poor and when my sister and I got a gift for Christmas, I wasn't overwhelmed with joy for that gift.
Usually it was age appropriate for my sister and not me, she is 4 years older AND she got to play with it first...what ever it was and then if it was still in one piece, I got to play with it.
One year we got a set of tinker toys...the very small set...you could not build anything with this set...when you look on side of package it showed you other kits you had to buy to build the items in this box.
Read the instructions before you buy.
And now a days I see ALL these high buck toys and electronics that kids want, oh no...HAVE TI HAVE for Christmas for about 10 minutes before they say...oh is that what it was I saw on TV.
GGRRRRRRRR!!!!
And one year we got a share doll that was n a plaastic dome that we culd not touch...just look at all year..what the heck is that kind of gift for a kid !
It is hard not to over indulge your children because of what you didn't have.
But if you sit back for a moment and think about it, aren't you a wonderful person and aren't you always the giving one and the kind one?
And who are the ones screaming for more, more, more, bigger, badder, more?

RE, RE, RE, RECYCLE, REUSE
"RE" Everything you can. Make a game of it. Kids just love it and you are helping to save our planet and teach the children at the same time.

A lot of us are into recycling today. Newspapers into fire place logs, aluminum products into $$$ and glass into sun catchers.
What is your favorite recycling tip or trick ? I would like to hear from you.
One of our favorite things to do is use reusable bags that come in various colors, so you can either pick your favorite color or pick a color of the week and take the kids and go on a scavenger hunt for recyclables.
See how many different items you can find as you walk around your neighborhood or find a park to go to and collect thing.
You can collect items like aluminum cans for the day to go to the recycle station and help clean up the area or maybe collect pine cones, flowers, leaves or trinkets found on the ground, place them each in a special colored bag, so that when you get home you have pine cones in one, flowers in another, like that. Then when you bring the bags home filled with those special treasures of the day, you can re-invent a special craft and make a beautiful item that could become a neat wall hanging or refrigerator piece of art.
If you are a real creative type, you could be making gifts from nature to give for presents.
This can be a whole family project and it is such a personal gift it would mean a lot to the person who receives it.
Instead of just using wrapping paper, buy a reusable bag to give the gift in and get the next person started on this great "RE" adventure.
It's fun, inexpensive and an educational experience for all.
So get out there and get started..."RE" something today.

It is supposed to be so good for you...I have seen it mentioned in conjunction with many diets.
BUT...as I keep researching it, all it BOILS DOWN TO is...meat stock soup.
This carcass, that carcass, drippings...why don't they just say it's the "recyclers' soup" !
and then you add rice.
Go figure.

Safety First - Glock
I have rather small hands but I prefer to use a glock for target practice.
I seemed to have trouble using a standard thumb release holster, it always felt a bit awkward to me.
I did some checking around and found this Blackhawk CQC Holsters place and liked what I saw and read about them, so I ordered one.
I am so glad I did. It feels like a more natural body motion when I draw the glock out of it.
It's designed with the Serpa Active Retention System which makes the safety factor of holstering and unholstering so much safer as it engages the trigger guard on contact...very nice feature for me.
When you start using it, you hands get used to the unholstering technique really fast. No thumb release ever felt this smooth to use.
I find with the ease of action with this holster, I can concentrate more on the target and I am getting better scores on my targets.

Misfit toys not right
Article in local paper is very disturbing to me, I do not know what others will think. I have a feeling it was supposed to be a good thing when the project started, but it went way wrong somewhere.
The title is, "Museum Workshop reinvents old toys".
Title made me look, for just a second...but the photo that was with it is absolutely grotesque !
I won't even snap a pic to share with you it is so gosh awful.
It shows 2 dolls, one with 2 heads and the other has legs sewn on that resemble lymphodemic legs.
It just about turns my stomach and I am not a squeamish person.
Why would not either the photographer or the person writing the article or the proofreader, notice this disgusting, crude article BEFORE it went to press ?

I wonder just how many lawyers there are in LA. I would guess a bunch !
Right now I live in a fairly small community and most of the "Good" lawyers are pretty well know in their fields of expertise, so I have some idea of who to call if I would ever get into trouble.
While surfing the internet, I have discovered that there is a particular web site for a group of attorneys that is predominate in my searching and I found out that they are in the top 5% in their field. Any wonder they keep popping up !
Kestenbaum, Eisner and Gorin, LLP are Los Angeles Criminal and DUI Defense Attorneys and are very well known for their aggressive and relentless legal approach to one's defense.
Together they have over 50 years of trial and court experience which is impressive, but the best part is that one was a former District Attorney, one a former Senior Trial Prosecutor and another a prosecutor and Law Professor. That is some credentials.
Any wonder they are rated in the top 5% of attorneys.
Also they are easily accessible if you have to go to the Van Nuys Courthouse as they are located right across the street.
So if I were to move to Los Angeles I just have to live near Van Nuys.
Each city ans municipality have some of their own rules and regs and it is always nice to have a lawyer that would be up on all the latest ins and outs of the current laws of the area.
This is helpful because sometimes they would know what court filings to make and at times it could get you cleared or maybe a lesser charge if you were guilty, before it went to court or even trial.
These guys are good. As I am reading further about this particular group of attorneys, I am finding out that there is so many more criminal divisions of the law than I knew or ever needed to know about.
Getting arrested for anything can be really scary, so you should probably learn at what point of your legal problem you should hire a lawyer.
They say if you have to call the police for something you are involved in, call them...the lawyers...First and if you are already in jail that your one phone call should be to them not a friend, who may or may not be able to help you. That sounds like good advice to me !
This group of Defense Attorneys handle cases like misdemeanors, felonies, DUIs, record sealing and expungements and a whole lot of other criminal areas of law.

I am READY !
I am so READY this year for Santa.
I have all my shopping done and I feel great about what I bought for each person this year.
I did not go overboard this year, I just picked out special gifts.

Back in Black
Wrist watches can be very hard to make a choice from.There are some really elegant and fashionable ones to choose from.
If yo are anything like I am, it's almost more of an investment than just a shopping for a new bangle. It is important to me that the watch goes with the outfit and since I obviously can't have a watch for every outfit, I need to find the right style and color to make it multi-functional.
I needed one that was kind of sporty and yet had to be water resistant as I wanted it to wear when I go golfing.

Do It Yourself Almost Cookies
Hey guys, I just saw a really neat thing. I was up at Giant Eagle Store yesterday and they had in their bakery department some already baked cut out sugar cookies, like Santa and reindeer, etc., Christmasy ones, plain and undecorated. AND they had containers of different color icings that you could buy to decorate them yourself and they had the jars of sprinkles and other decorating items nearby to give you ideas of what to use too.
This is awesome for some who lie to have fun decorating cookies and don't have time to bake them .
What fun it would be to have the kids help get in the holiday spirit and help decorate cookie...and YUM !!! EAT THEM !!!

All I Want For Christmas Is...
Nope ! Not my two front teeth.
What I really want is new eyeglasses. I am waaaaaay over due for new eye glasses.
Mine are so old and out dated and not even close to being trendy or matching with any of the latest fashions or new colors that are out now.
It is just such an expensive item to buy anymore. The cost of the script, then the frames and then the lenses...we are talking big bucks.
Since it is Christmas, I might be able to splurge a little on me.
I decided to look online and see what deals were available.
Lo and behold I found a web site that sells glasses for really reasonable prices.
They have fashionable frames, anti-reflective coating, bifocals and progressive reading glasses and free shipping if I order more than one pair...hmmm, might just do that as they have sun glasses and photochromic eyeglasses too.
Oh, yes this is cool...they have a virtual try on site. It's almost like being there in person trying them on.
Don't have to drive anywhere, make an appointment, put my make up on, I can stay in my pajamas an click, click, click, order online.
About 5 days from now I should have my new eyeglasses and they only cost about $15 a pair.
What a deal !

How Many Santas Are There ?
Did you ever stop to think about if your child REALLY believes in Santa ?
How often do you go out and you see the Santa on the corner and in the store you go to and in the center of the local malls.
Do you think your child ever notices that Santa is in every place at one time ?Ever been at the big malls at shift change and spot 10 or 12 Santas all at the same time in the same parking lot ?
And as you are being ever so cautious and sly, since you have to take the kids with you on a SALE day to do a bit of the Christmas shopping, you buy stuff for the house and then you try to hide a couple of Christmas gifts in the mix of your cart so the kids don't know what you are doing ?
Yeah! Right ! Let's really think about this for a minute or two. Hmmm....

Talk About A bail Out ?
The way the economy is at this time it is not only tough on auto industries, it's hard times for most all of us little people business owners too.
Trying to keep the existing employees working and trying to keep up with the competition is the key to making it in this crunch time.
I am not about to let the economy that someone else messed up put me out of business.
I worked too long and too hard to get where I am at today.
Oh, I admit I will never be a millionaire, but I am going to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table and yes Santa Will visit our house this year...he just won't have as many gifts maybe as last year and I am not going to do that Bah humbug thing and lay off worker at Christmas time or even soon there after.
If i expand in certain areas of my business I can really make a great come back by this Spring.
I did some checking and found this online place that does business loans with no closing costs or fess and low payments.
My credit is OK, but not great but they said they have like a 90% approval rate and I should qualify and will have an answer within 48 hours.
They did not even need collateral and they seemed very sure they could find me a funding program just for my situation.
Sure different dealing with these folks than a very strict ruled bank.
So as soon as I fill out application online and get approval, I will have the money I request, in my account within 5 to 7 days.
This has taken a whole lot of financial pressure off of me.
So here I go, you know what they say, "Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Do you remember this past summer when the University of Akron overbooked housing spaces for students and had to buy back the contracts from some of the students..if they could.
They were scrambling to cover their tushies.
Some of the foreign exchange students traveled all this way to find No Room At The Inn...Christmas time sense of humor.
I was doing a little web surfing for student housing and ran across this little item -

These housing units are so awesome, I think I would rather opt to go to college in the U.K.
You have got to see these places, they are fabulous !
I am almost ashamed of the crap that is available here for overseas students.

They are using the natural resources whenever available to help keep utility costs down too.
Everyone wants to save a little money when ever they can.
I can't imagine finding properties like these in the U.S. for students.

Obama's old boss was arrested for trying to sell Obama's old seat to the highest bidder.
He was caught fair and square on wire tap.
Biggest power thing, most money, fire his enemies...this is not good.

Get Organized ? Me ?
Every once in awhile I pick up a magazine and it is offering tips on how to get organized.
I read it and as usual it offers no help for me.
It always involves shelving and drawers and cupboards all of which I have no room for.
Most of my rooms are small and there is no room for putting shelves on the walls as it would make it almost impossible to place them in a room and get to them.
As for adding shelves to my closet...I think not either.
You know what, I think I will just have to get rid of some stuff and have a yard sale.
Oh yeah, it's winter time, have to wait for spring.
Will do spring cleaning in spring and have a yard sale.
Is this procrastination at it's finest...lol.
Guess I will just sit back have a cup of coffee and relax.
I will contemplate getting my Christmas tree out and getting the room ready for decorating on Monday.

Chevy Steering Column Color Code
Any car junkies out there ?
Hubby is putting together his winter car project and I am tired of running to the library for wiring diagrams that aren't right, maybe I can get a little help from my friends here...
the steering column is from a 1985 s10 pick up truck and he got the ignition and starter wire figured out...there is a plug with 10 wires he would like to know what they are for...he does not need a door buzzer or stuff like that , but he would like to know which is for lights, turn signals, wipers...stuff like that...any help any one ?

Vitamin B6 for Neuopathy
As I told you before, my sister is undergoing chemo right now for breast cancer.
You will all be happy to hear, she is doing quite well at this point.
She is not happy about losing her hair, but she says on the other hand, she no longer has to shave her legs either.
She is such a trooper..Oh, my goodness, what a trooper.
My niece and I go with her to every treatment day...for moral support.
It does seem to help her.
Prayers, special food, medicines, all that is helpful for sure, but there is nothing that heals like good old fashion LOVE !
We can see it in her face all the time.
This whole cancer and chemo and radiation...that is next...is so overwhelming to all concerned.
So it appears that the littlest things makes the biggest differences.
Last treatment sis was a little depressed. She said she would like to have a salad, so I said I would go to the cafe and get her one.
I spent $10 on that salad and it was worth every dime !
Not knowing exactly what she would like, I got a little of this and a lot of that and a bunch of the other...it was a huge salad.
When I walked into the room with it, she gave me the best smile I had seen from her for a while.
She enjoyed every bite of it too !
OK, SO NOW. the other day when we were seeing her doctor prior to treatment, the doctor asked her if she had any signs of neuropathy showing up.
Sis said no, but it intrigued me because my hubby suffers from this from his diabetes.
I asked the doctor if this B6 would benefit him in any way with his neuropathy...she said..absolutely yes.
She said just get an OTC brand, pop one a day and let her know in about 2 weeks of the changes.
We will try it and find out.
She also said to talk with his regular doctor and see his thoughts incase other blood work might be done for him.
It may not be a cure but any relief is welcome at this time.

Out For A relaxing Dinner ?
Hubby took me out for a relaxing dinner tonight.
Ah, not so relaxing.
We pulled in the parking lot and there were a bunch of cars.
I always joke about must be a good place to eat with all the cars in the parking lot.
We got inside and low and behold, I could not have missed the rush, no, no I was smack dab in the middle of it.
Now understand, I am not in a hurry, hubby is not in a hurry, just out for a relaxing dinner.
SURE ! He is an "It's My Turn" watcher. Gosh I hate that.
You know, when you get seated then start watching who came in after you so your meal comes in order it should.
UUUUGGGHHHhhhh !
Just let me order and let it get here in a half an hour. I am actually enjoying the quiet time.
Sipping my coffee, looking at the people, talking with some.
Watching that poor waitress go nuts with every rude person that thinks they are still at home and think they are going to get it now and get it delivered !
Why can't people just take a deep breath and relax once in a while.
I am sure we all would be served eventually, heck the staff can't go home til all the orders were filled.
Oh my, Feelings JUST are.

Over the years, my husband and myself have owned 2 different businesses.
The first was a T-shirt silk screening business, with a sideline of iron transfer manufacturing.
This is one of those ventures that you have to keep an eye on employees and inventory or both as the case may be.
As the business grew, we spent much of our time getting more customers, picking up or ordering supplies, research, billing, oh gosh it was just endless tasking.
So we tried taking on more employees. We found after about 2 years that a lot of inventory was missing...a whole lot. And we consider it our fault for not being able to watch the inner workings closer, due to over work.
So we sold the business and went on to other art areas.
Recently I ran into the couple that bought the business and they we telling me how well they were doing and the shop, but they had to get a security camera system to try to cut their losses.
They too found missing inventory.
It really is hard to run a business and watch everything else in the manufacturing and sales areas.
Identifying internal theft was tricky, but by using visible security systems to deter theft, they ended up catching shoplifters red handed and identifying internal theft.
The security cameras, accessories, mountings, brackets, housings, wires, all came from IT Planet they said and also they got their bar code printer, scanner and label supplies from them too.
In consideration at this time is outdoor security system for them with some kind of infra red sensor.
OK they lost me with the infra red stuff but Free technical support is available when you order from there.
Now all the theft has come almost to a screeching halt and they are making lots more money.
The system paid for itself.
I said I wish we had had the security systems in place that they now have, sure would have save us a bundle.
Oh, well...live and learn.

Now all the theft has come almost to a screeching halt and they are making lots more money.

I said I wish we had had the security systems in place that they now have, sure would have save us a bundle.

Practice What You Preach
I am so sick and tired of hearing parents gripe about their children lying to them and yet they teach them how.
I was just reading an article in Dear Abby about a husband who took their so to a scanty dressed waitress food serving place...probably hooters.
Then the husband did not want the son to disclose to his mom where they went...yes you guessed right...the son narced, mom is mad and dad is in the dog house !
Why take the kid if you knew it would cause grief at home with the spouse and why on earth would you have your child lie to their mom !?
What kind of message is this sending the children ?

Is it hot in here, or is it just me ?
You know how guys are always naming their "cars" and "trucks" and putting cute sayings on the tailgates ?
Well just recently named my mini van, Goldilocks.
At first I thought it was just me.
Too hot, too cold, ahh, just right.
But it got to be too darned hot in the van almost all the time now.
I was talking with hubby and he started laughing at me because he, being a guy, knew that it was my air conditioning compressor.
But of course when he first told me what it was he said it was the a c compressor.
I said, "what is A/C compressor " ?
He said that it was that little motor waaaaay under my dash that costs an arm and a leg to get fixed.
I said, "GROAN" !
But honey ! I really, really need it fixed.
He explained that it was one of those jobs that requires my entire dash taken out to get to it in my van and that it would take him a couple of days to do it.
I asked why we didn't just take it to a mechanic and get it done.
Did you ever get one of those looks that you just knew you said something really stupid and sis not realize it before it came out of your mouth ?
He said, "I work on our vehicles ALL the time, why would I take it to someone else to get done" ?
Gee honey, I don't know what made me even have such a thought...shame on me !
So we started our quest to find the right parts for my van and I found this great website while surfing the internet. Dodge AC compressor had ALL THE PARTS I needed and could ship them right out.
Got that they had EVERYTHING I needed ! In one place ! No waiting !
I was so happy I actually giggled as I ordered the parts.
In the mean time one of my hubby's car enthusiast friends came over and said he had just replaced his wife's A/C compressor in her BMW and that he could help do mine.
That meant my van would be back in action faster than I had imagined.
Goldilocks is mine and our daughter's main set of wheels around here. It has all the grand children's car seats in it.
Goldilocks is my life line !

I Love Leftovers
I think the best part of Thanksgiving is the LEFTOVERS !
it seems as though everyone has a special recipe that they make with the left over turkey or ham.
Talk about warming up a home with holiday aromas...wow !
I started a good ol' pot of beans and ham, but there will be no cornbread this year, as my oven is still out of service due to to the fire we had on Thanksgiving morning.
So all the cooking today will be on the stove top.
My son-in-law is whipping up a huge pot of beef stew and antipasto salad and bread dip.
Oh my goodness am I ever drooling...YUM !!!!
Our guests won't arrive for another hour yet, wonder if I can keep out of the kitchen til then.
It's like we invented the "LEFTOVER HOLIDAY".
I know for sure we all are going to be discussing which diet who is ging to go on AFTER the holidays...not before.

OK, riding season for me is over. Too cold around here and no vacation time left to go to warmer climate.
So now is when I take the time to revamp the bike.
I don't need any major overhauling, bike runs great.
I also told hubby I would get him one of those Tourmaster Intake Air Series...I found out they are ON SALE right now...Great Christmas gift for him.
V-Star, Virage, Royal Star, Raider Roadliner, Stratoliner...just about any series out there, this
yamaha parts place has great sales on all kinds of stuff, clothing accessories...I am going to online shopping for sure.
