The Grass Is Not Always Greener

I can tell you from first hand experience that the grass is not always greener on the other side.
I have told you all before how much I dislike the winter weather here in Ohio and that I was looking to move to a warmer climate...like a snow bird.
Well, my dreams came true, we actually got a little piece of property in SC and as luck would have it ...the whole time we were there it was cold.
I mean put on a coat and jeans cold.
And the day we had to come back home we had to leave during an ice storm there.
How unnatural is that?!
So now I must think that it is not so much global warming, but my bad luck in weather!
Now if you want some cold weather in your area including ice and snow, just feel free to give me a call.
I will come for a visit and I assure you cold weather will follow with me.
Brrrrrr it's cold outside!

An Extra Special Homemade Gift

Can't quite figure out what to get the grand parents for the holiday season?

Yes indeed it is very hard to pick out a unique gift for the grand parents as they have been around for so many years and they usually have already purchased everything they wanted or needed by this time.

So what is that you can give them that will be so special?

How about some homemade stationary that the children had made throughout the year?

This is what you can do...save those precious drawings that the kids made and make sure they sign or initial them so you are sure of which child did which picture, then run them on your copier as a draft copy.

The picture should print out as a very light background and you could add special header info like the grandparents name and address, etc.

It really looks great!

You could also pick a couple of favorite flowers they might enjoy and scan those too...they work perfectly for stationary.

Ready or Not, Here I Come

Ready or not here I come!
I think I met all the requirements for Christmas season this year.
I have all the decorations up and most of the gifts wrapped.
This year was a race to the end to get everything accomplished.
I think we bought for all the ones we needed to and some this year we did not buy gifts for as I think we should get more on the subject of what we are actually celebrating and most of the adults in out group agree.
The costs of gifts are going up and the thought of humanity seems to be declining, so I think a bit more heart and prayer into this season can bring more cheer into our lives and family units.
You know when you think about it, if someone bought you a gift a few years back and it is all gone now, you might think...hmmm I really like that "object", but I can't remember who got it for me...but if someone does something really nice for you...it seems to be remembered forever.
How do you put a bow on a memory?
Oh, how about baking someones favorite cookies and putting a bow on them and then sitting down together with a nice warm cup of tea or coffee and just chatting for a while?
What a wonderful idea...communicationg with a loved one!

Ready for the Christmas rush

I am soooo not ready yet this year for the kids's Christmas time.
I hate going out into crowds and I hate trying to figure out which child wants what for a gift.
This is the time of year I am supposed to be happy and jolly and I just can't muster it up yet...but do not worry I will get happy some how...sooooon!
I am kind of against the commercialism that is brought so much into this season, and yet as a child I too looked forward to this time of year.
I know I should not worry so much about the cost of the gift, I think, but it has to be something in the realm of what each child is interested in.
SOmetimes a simple book of their favorite subjuect is enough to spur on that special smile and other times it may be financially impossible to make them totally happy.
I am on a fixed income so all of thos high tech electronic items are definitly out of the question.
They learned real fast not to ask for those items from grandma and grandpa.
And as I look back on the toys we had as kids and the stuff that is out now...it is no wonder you can't hardly find a cashier that can count out the correct change without the robot register telling them how much.
I think some of the toys and items now a day, make people forget how to use the brain!
Of course there are other gimmicks that only the smartest kids can even make work, let alone try to figure out where the batteries go!
Well ,I hope you all have a happy holiday season and get plenty of smiles and hugs.
Thanks for stopping by,

Mountains DO Cry

I never realized it before the other day when we were going on a trip to the Carolinas, but mountains really do cry.
As we were driving down the road I was looking up at the mountain side where it had been blasted to make way for the new highway.
You have probably seen it yourself and maybe not noticed either.
When construction of a highway goes through a mountain instead of around it. they use blasting techniques of some sort that tears away and shears off the face/side of the mountain and if you take the time to actually look at it, water is usually pouring out of it...this to me looked just like the mountain was crying, sobbing tears telling me that it hurt from the demolition that was done and no one was listening to the mountain.
I wonder how ling it will cry and how ling it will ache from the damage done to it.
And I wonder how much other damage will be done to the earth around the area that was changed by mankind.
Every time man make a new highway or builds some construction of a kind, how often to they think of nature and the effects they are causing ?
I can't get the picture of the Crying Mountain Side.

Wonder If The Housewives of Orange County Ever

I wonder if the housewives of Orange County ever had to have a water restoration crew come in to do repairs.
And I wonder who they would call.
I can just see the headlines now...Water Damage Orange County ...Restoration crew needed ASAP!
Who would be on their "A" list to phone first?
If there was a dam that let loose or a storm sewer flood, there would have to be someone available, in some cases on demand, like right now, especially if there were a medical emergency need for fast clean up.
I know there are several companies that do this type of work, but you really need a team that are experts in the field to make sure the clean up is done correctly.
Water damage San Diego and water damage Orange County can be professionally cleaned and you would not have to worry if it was done right.
You would not want a company to come out an charge you for cleaning up a mess and then have mold grow and contaminate the air you breathe or the food you eat.
It could end up being a worse disaster that you began with.
Depending on what the water damage was caused by, be it a dam, a flood, a leaky faucet or a hidden break in a water line, it can cause some major health related problems.
I know because I used to go out on disaster assignments for the American Red Cross and you would not believe the trouble I have seen.
So if you have a water problem, make absolutely sure you get a professional to do the clean up and do not just pick the first guy that calls and says, "Have I got a deal for you".
You could be putting your life and your family's lives in jeopardy.
